New MWD T-Shirts!

***Update! 10/8*** We just came out with a new style of this awesome shirt…the design can now be printed on the BACK of the t-shirt, with a small logo on the left chest. The color of the ink is a steel grey, which looks excellent against the black. We’ll add it to our website ASAP. Let us know if you’d like to order it before then!

MWD T-Shirt

Take a look at these awesome new MWD (Military Working Dog) t-shirts we designed and just got in stock! As with  most of the items in our military section, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts goes directly to deployed military working dogs in the form of care packages. We’ve just started out supporting another new team of 6 dogs (some from Hurlburt Field!).

These American Apparel t-shirts are soft and comfy, yet durable enough to wash and wear on a regular basis. They are available in both mens/unisex sizing and women’s sizing. We also decided to go with a different screenprinting process…instead of the ink sitting on top of the fabric, like most t-shirts, the design is set into the fabric so you can’t even feel the ink. It’s so nice to the touch!

Many thanks to April & Justin from Anchor Screen Printing (located right here in FWB!) for helping with the design and printing of these badass shirts! (Note: The dog tags have teeny tiny printing with “3 Dogs & a Chick, Fort Walton Beach, Florida” I’m so excited about that part! :)

To purchase these t-shirts, please visit our online store.

MWD Sonja sitting with a few of the items we sent to Iraq to help with her deployment

We recently sent off our first shipment (over 40lbs) of dog & human goodies to Iraq in support of several deployed Military Working Dog teams. We heard back from TSgt Weigold and everything was a big hit!

“At the Mail Point today, 3 Dogs and a Chick boxes were falling on top of us…..You really did too much!!!  I can’t thank you enough for everything you sent. The leashes, treats and toys are great and the water holes are exactly the ones that have worked so well for us on all our deployments. The snickerdoodles and peanut butter cookies were annihilated by the guys! And the football…we will have great fun with that on our down time. Sonja says WOOF for all her goodies!”

Thank you so much to all our customers who donated to our fundraiser…keep it coming! We are scheduled to continue supporting various teams through at least early 2010 so we will always need your help. Visit our MWD Support page for more information on how you can help. You can drop off donated items or monetary donations anytime at the store or email me for arrangements (nicole@3dogsandachick.com).  THANK YOU!!!

Here at 3 Dogs & a Chick, we’ve recently adopted several deployed Military Working Dog (MWD) Teams. We are sending care packages over to both the dogs and the handlers, with the goal of boosting morale and providing requested items for the dogs.

We need your help to continue the much needed support of our brave men, women and dogs who sacrifice so much to keep us safe and free! Until they all come home…

Please visit our MWD support page to view requested items and find out more information on how to donate. Thank you for your support!

MWD Retirement Ceremony & Working Dog Monument Dedication

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a very special ceremony. 5 Military Working Dogs were officially relieved of their duties and sent into retirement, all being adopted into loving families.  The ceremony was beautiful and touching, complete with support from active duty military dog handlers and local law enforcement dog teams. The dogs chimed in to sing along to the national anthem, reminding us that this day was all about them.

MWD’s Jacco, Max, Blesk, Marco and Deny are all beautiful heroes, dogs who have served their country well and saved countless lives. They have traveled around the world, deploying to Iraq and other places of unrest. They have protected international dignitaries and the President of the United States. They have discovered weapons caches and car bombs. And they have been best friends to their handlers. All of these tasks were completed with honor, loyalty and courage.

After the retirement portion of the ceremony, the Working Dog Monument was unveiled. This beautiful sculpture and tribute is placed outside the entrance to the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base. Kelly Hooker and Michele Stringert are the forces behind this lovely memorial which honors all working dogs, their handlers and the staff who have cared for them.

Bricks with custom messages are scattered around the base of the monument, paying tribute to fallen comrades, honoring past working dogs, sending notes of love and support and many other special messages. Custom bricks may be purchased and placed around the monument, by visiting the Military Working Dog Memorial website. We at 3 Dogs & a Chick showed our support for the monument, for deployed family members and for future working dog teams by purchasing a brick of our own.

Thank you to Kelly and Michele for including us in your special day. Our best wishes go out to Jacco, Marco, Blesk, Max, Deny and their families. You are all true heroes and we thank you for your service.
