Luckily the name does not oversell how good this place is - even if it is not some sort of willy wonkaesque cake factory!
As the sign in the wondow states the ladies here have been producing top quality confestionary for 30 years and show no signs of abaiting. Not to be trapped down memory lane, the website reveals how they make their cakes in wheat free and dairy free ranges for all these fussy modern eaters - it's cake! it should have loads of butter and flour!
But I also noticed that their website boasts a letter from Frank Cottrell Boyce, one of our cities best playwrite and screenwriter who aptly points out that Dafna's is like a trip back in time for your tastebuds.
They aren't just limited to cheesecakes if I haven't pointed out as the ladies here also d a mean selection of preserves and accompaniments to there flans, tarts and slices and housed in what could be your nan's larder.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jemma P.Largs, North Ayrshire1030328013 May 2010First to Review
This place is heaven! Like me, you have probably walked past this little gem a hundred times or more and never really noticed it... but believe me, take a peek. If you like cakes, cheesecakes, desserts or quiches this place is an absolute must!
Dafna specialises in producing quality cakes, all made using non-commercial recipes, and utilising domestic kitchen equipment. There is a huge range of cheesecakes, the most popular product, available in ten different flavours - I didn't even know it was possible to do that! Honestly, I was like a kid in a candy shop... I think it's practically witchcraft!
Alongside the magical cheesecakes, Dafna sells a range of dietary specific foods such as wheat-free and dairy-free cakes. There is also vegetarian meals and Belgian chocolates on offer.
The prices are definitely higher than what you would find in a supermarket or grocery store but the quality of the food is absolutely incomparable! Quiches come at around £7 and cakes are around £10 on average, and the famous cheesecakes about £9 for a large.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave L.Liverpool, Merseyside355636501 Jun 2010
The two things I love most in the world, cake and ladies who provide me with cake, make visiting this wondrous little nook of overlooked Beatrix Potter-type whimsy somewhere above 'find a cure for dinosaurs being extinct' on my list of things I want to accomplish more in everyday life.
It's not exactly cheap here, but glancing down their list of products is enough to make you not care, then reach for your cheque book. "Norwegian Almond Cake", "Lemon Cake with Blueberries", "Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake", "Hazelnut Chocolate Gateau"- I'll stop for a second while you dab that drool from the corner of your mouth. It's not often your appetite can be whetted simply by reading the names of what's on offer. Hell to this, I'm going there now.

Dafna's is heaven. I can't even think of the place without salivating!!
I first went here about 15 years ago with my family. We were passing through on our way back from a day out and my mum decided we would stop off for a treat. I wondered why we were stopping at an old fashioned cake shop in the middle of nowhere when there were many similar places near where we lived.
As soon as I had my first mouthful of cake it all became clear. I am a big cake lover, always have been, but I have NEVER tasted cake like they sell at Dafna's.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Helen T.Liverpool, Merseyside213153284 Jun 2010
Established in 1973, I always imagine that the staff who bake these beautiful homemade cakes are the Knitting nanas from the Shreddies advert.
Carrot cake, chocolate fudge cake, coffee cake, moist ginger cake, pecan and sticky toffee cake... yes my diet is out of the window and half way across the Atlantic by now, but who cares, I want my cake and I want to eat it!
They also do cute selection boxes of their favourites and you can pick and choose too, it makes a great alternative present and I'd recommend buying a cake from here and christening it with birthday candles, rather than buying a pre-packaged one from the Tesco across the road. Ranging between £3 (banana cake) and £14.15 (I'd pay double that for the chocolate fudge layer cake in a heartbeat!)
They also make cheesecake galore and savoury quiches, and they have gluten free cake options if you have dietary requirements they should be able to accomodate you!
Ooh, in all this cake, I almost forgot, check out the selection of jams that are in little glass jars and covered in gingham with elastic bands, it's like being in a rural cottage kitchen!
So what are you waiting for? Eat cake!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Philip S.Liverpool, Merseyside1861465320 Jun 2010
I'm not huge fan of cakes as I don't really have a sweet tooth, but taking the other perfect reviews into account, I shall agree that Dafna's sells some of the best, if not the best cakes in the city. When I walk past here, it is hard not to ignore the truly mouth-watering cakes that can be seen in the shop window. Very tempting indeed (even for me). Their prices are higher as you would expect but Dafna's is a unique shop that you won't find anywhere else - all their food is home made and I often believe that nothing beats home made food! Plus, there is almost every type of heavenly cake at Dafna's that you can imagine. You need to be there to believe it!

Fantabulous!!! All things sweet really are the key to a woman's heart and I have independent shops such as this one to thank for providing me with numerous keys over the years. Now before you get that ticker going I'm talking about my mother and baby sisters and the keys to their hearts over the mother's days and birthdays etc
This place is so cute, you've got old ladies serving delicious cakes how can it not be. The place reminded me of the movie Chocolat. Luckily they stock more than just cheesecake as I'm not a big fan really. Not to worry a quick drift down the menu and a smile was brought back on my face as I contemplated mouth watering helplessly what I should have. The banana and carrot are definately worth a munch.
So refreshing to see authentic goodness personified in the form of this little gem of a place. If you don't pay this a visit when in Liverpool you really are snoozing. You snooze you lose folks. So go grab yourself a treat. Oh and fellas....if you want to score some browny points with the women in your life, look no further, this is "dafna"tly the way forward!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marcel D.Liverpool, Merseyside1140324023 Jul 2010
Dafnas Cheesecake Factory is every home made cake lover's dream come true! They sell a mouth-watering range of homemade cakes, jams and pastries! They sell their cakes by slice, half cake and full cake, or even a selection box with a slice of each cake inside! You can tell they're all homemade as there is an open plan kitchen at the back of the shop where the proprietors are busy baking all day long whilst the shop is open.
It's not all cheesecakes, they serve loads of traditional favourites and a few speciality cakes too. These include Carrot Cake, Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake, Coffee Cake, Lemon Cake, Coffee and Walnut Cake, Chocolate Cake, Norwegian Almond Tart and Ginger and Cinnamon Cake to name a few.
Their homemade preserves are amazing too and fairly cheap at around £2 or £2.50 per pot. Their slices range from £1.20 for Carrot cake through to £2.00 a slice for their richer chocolate cakes! Walk past at your peril!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (KkMm…)Liverpool, Merseyside39229 Nov 2008
I'm such a big fan of Cheesecake that when I saw there was a cheesecak factory just along the road I was so excited. Then I went into the shop and the dream ended. The cakes are really quite expensive for what they are and they do not look impressive in the slightest. I would rather buy a Tesco finest cake and save £20 then get a cake in here. A slice costs about £5- I would expect quite a lot for that. They look like something anyone could bake.

Who doesn't like Cheesecake ...you don't? Then you have not had cheesecake from Dafna's factory. This place is well known but it should be as Dafna's have been baking in Liverpool since 1973 when it was started by a Liverpool school teacher. Unlike the American cheesecake factory, Dafna's sticks to just 10 flavours which is more than enough to try and eat your way through in one sitting! Their website rightly boasts that they don't use commercial recipes. They even offer wheat free, dairy free and a selection of vegetarian meals ensures nobody ever has an excuse for not wanting to take me there as there really is something for the fussiest of eaters.
